Cutting It Fine 48-Hour Film Competition Terms and Conditions

1. General Overview
By registering for and/or participating in the Cutting It Fine 48-Hour Film Competition (“Competition”), participants agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions, as well as all decisions made by the organisers, which shall be final and binding in all respects.

2. Eligibility
Participation is open to all individuals or teams who complete the official registration process and agree to abide by the rules. Organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to any individual or team at their sole discretion.

3. Insurance and Liability
Participants are solely responsible for their own actions and safety during the Competition. The organisers do not provide insurance coverage of any kind. Participants may arrange their own insurance and are responsible for ensuring that all necessary permits, permissions, safety measures, and insurances are in place for any location shoots. A list of pre-approved filming locations around Bristol will be provided at the Flag Off event. The organisers shall not be liable for any injury, loss, damages, or expenses incurred during or as a result of participation in the Competition.

4. Venue and Event Changes
The organisers reserve the right to change, postpone, relocate, or cancel any event venue, dates, or schedules at their sole discretion. All reasonable efforts will be made to notify participants of such changes as soon as possible.

5. Prizes
Prizes, if any, are subject to change at the discretion of the organisers. No cash alternatives or substitutions are guaranteed. Participants acknowledge that the organisers make no warranty or guarantee regarding any prizes.

6. Disqualification The organisers reserve the right to disqualify any participant or team that:

  • Acts contrary to the spirit of the Competition (i.e., fostering creativity, collaboration, and networking);
  • Engages in behaviour that is deemed unsafe, illegal, disruptive, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate;
  • Fails to adhere to the official Competition Rules and Regulations.

7. Intellectual Property Rights
Teams retain ownership of their film submissions. By submitting a film, participants grant the organisers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, and promote the films (in full or in part) for marketing, archival, or promotional purposes in connection with the Competition. Participants are responsible for ensuring that all footage, images, and other materials included in their films are properly licensed or cleared for use. Optional music will be provided by West One and clearance will be given for use during the competition.

8. Deadlines and Submission
All films must be submitted by the official deadline provided by the organisers. Late submissions may not be accepted or may be accepted without eligibility for awards, at the organisers’ discretion.

9. Content Guidelines
Films must not contain any material that is obscene or promotes hate or discrimination against any group or individual. Organisers reserve the right to reject or disqualify any film that violates this guideline.

10. Team Conduct
All participants are expected to behave professionally and respectfully toward other participants, actors, members of the public, volunteers, and organisers. Any form of harassment, discrimination, or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.

11. Force Majeure
The organisers shall not be held liable for any failure to perform or delay in performance due to events beyond their control, including but not limited to natural disasters, government actions, pandemics, strikes, or civil unrest.

12. Amendments
The organisers reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be communicated via official channels.

13. Use of Contact Information
By registering for the Competition, actors, runners, and other participants who opt in agree to have their name and contact details (as provided) displayed on the official Competition website for the sole purpose of enabling teams to connect and collaborate. This information will not be shared with third parties or used for marketing purposes. Participants may request removal of their contact details at any time by contacting the organizers.
